Bookkeeping services for South Wales businesses, kept current every month

Bookkeeping services are usually the first job an owner hands over, because the receipts behind the till stopped being a pile and turned into a VAT return nobody can finish.

The worry is normally the move itself: a year of records sitting in the wrong place halfway through a quarter. We move you to Xero free, agree the fee before we start, and include tax investigation cover for every client. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

In one lineSupreme Consultants is an AAT licensed accountancy practice at Titan House in Cardiff Bay. It provides bookkeeping services for owner-managed businesses across South Wales and Bristol on a fixed fee agreed before work starts, with free migration to Xero and tax investigation cover included for every client.

Is your bookkeeping in good hands? Three questions.

Answer with the buttons, no email needed.

Question 1 of 3

Does your accountant reply the same working day?

What you get

Tax investigation cover included free

If HMRC opens a check into your records, we handle the correspondence and you pay nothing extra for it. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

Books that are ready when the VAT return is due

Your bank feed is reconciled and your receipts are logged before the quarter closes. Filing day becomes a review instead of a search.

Ring us about a figure for nothing

Calls, meetings and emails are never on the invoice. Ask the week the till roll stops adding up, not nine months later.

What owners tell us before they move their books

Three things we hear most weeks from people across Cardiff and Newport.

  • “I have got a carrier bag of receipts under the desk and a VAT return due on Friday.”

That quarter went in on estimates, and HMRC later asked why the figures moved.

  • “My old accountant invoiced me for a ten minute phone call, so now I never ring.”

Three small questions went unasked and one of them was a reclaim worth having.

  • “I only find out what I owe nine months after the year has ended.”

The corporation tax bill arrived with nothing set aside to pay it.

  • What changes once we take it on

Your records are written up through the year, so you see the position monthly. A retail client came to us still paying full business rates through Covid, because Cardiff Council required an application nobody had mentioned. We spotted it at the first meeting and recovered £10,000.

How this compares with the usual arrangement

Plenty of firms do good work this way. The difference is when you hear from them.

A once-a-year bookkeeping arrangement

Records go over after the year has ended

Questions are billed by the hour

You chase for the figures

Investigation cover is sold as an add-on

With Supreme Consultants

Books written up through the year

Calls, meetings and emails never charged

Same working day reply from us

Tax investigation cover included free

Eight questions about your current bookkeeping

Answer each one yes or no about the way your books run today.

  • Is your bank feed reconciled every month?

Monthly reconciliation is what stops a quarter being filed on estimates.

  • Do you know your VAT position before the return is due?

Knowing the figure early means you can set the money aside.

  • Are your purchase receipts stored digitally?

Digital copies are what HMRC asks for when a check starts.

  • Can you see last month’s profit today?

Current books let you decide on a second site or a new hire.

  • Does someone check your records before filing?

A review before submission catches the coding errors that trigger letters.

  • Are your payroll and bookkeeping in the same place?

Joined up records stop wages and pension costs being counted twice.

  • Do you avoid ringing your accountant because of the invoice?

A fee that covers the relationship means the question gets asked.

  • Is your software compliant with Making Tax Digital?

Digital records and compatible software are required for VAT filing.

What we do for your bookkeeping

Everything that keeps your records current and your returns ready to file.

All Services
Day to day bookkeeping
Sales, purchases, bank reconciliation and receipts written up monthly so the numbers are there when you need them.
Free move to Xero
We migrate your history, set up the bank feeds and the chart of accounts, and you pay nothing for the move.
VAT-ready records
Your books are reconciled before the quarter closes, so the VAT return is prepared from figures we have already checked.
The paperwork behind the till
For retail clients we take the non-accounting paperwork too, the supplier statements and filing that pile up in the back office.
Joined up with payroll and year end
The same records feed your payroll, your accounts and your corporation tax, so nothing gets rebuilt twice.

What a fixed fee changes about how often you ask

A retail client used to sit on questions because his last firm billed for the call. On our fee he rang the week he put a second till in, and the VAT treatment was right from the first day.

Clients described by type. Names withheld.

One fixed feeagreed in writing before any work starts
How it was found
We price the year at the introductory chat, once we have seen the state of the records.
What happened
Calls, meetings and emails never reach the invoice, so the small questions get asked early.

I just want to say a big thank you to Mudassir for all the advice, guidance and help he has provided whilst dealing with my accounts and tax returns. From start to finish the service has been excellent and professional. Unlike other accountancy firms they provide a friendly personalised service, I was very clear on the process and was even provided with additional guidance where needed. Highly recommended!

How switching your bookkeeping to us works

Four steps, and most of the work in them is ours.

  1. Before you join

    A free introductory chat

Tell us where things stand and we will be straight about whether we are the right fit. If we cannot genuinely help, we say so.

  2. Week one

    Records moved across for you

We complete your ID checks, agree the fee in writing, and write to your current accountant for professional clearance. You do not have to have that conversation.

  3. First month

Your books brought up to date

We migrate you to Xero free, write up the backlog and go through your past accounts and HMRC records. This is where missed reliefs and appealable penalties turn up.

  4. By ninety days

    Every deadline mapped out

VAT, payroll, accounts and corporation tax are diarised for the year ahead. You are not the one chasing us.

Who we are not right for

We do not act for CIS construction subcontractors.

We do not take on charities.

We do not pick up businesses that are already late responding in an open HMRC investigation.

If none of those describes you, the three question check tells you where your books stand.

Bookkeeping services: questions people ask

How much do bookkeeping services cost?

You pay a fixed fee agreed in writing before any work starts. What it comes to depends on your turnover, whether you are VAT registered, how many transactions you have, payroll headcount and how tidy the records are. Calls, meetings and emails are never billed separately. We quote after the introductory chat rather than guess at it.

How do I switch my bookkeeping from my current accountant?

You tell us to go ahead and we do the rest. We write to your existing accountant for professional clearance so they send your records to us directly, complete your ID checks, and get appointed as your agent with HMRC and Companies House. The handover, the first month and the Xero migration cost nothing.

What happens if HMRC writes to me or checks my records?

Send us the letter and we deal with HMRC for you. Tax investigation cover is included free for every client we act for, so you are not handed an extra bill when a check starts. Every HMRC investigation this practice has handled, it has won. We answer correspondence and provide the records HMRC asks for.

Do I have to change my bookkeeping software?

No. If you already work in Xero we pick it up as it is. If you are on spreadsheets, paper or another package and you want to move, we migrate you to Xero free, including your history, bank feeds and chart of accounts. If you would rather stay where you are, tell us and we work with that.

Can you catch up books that are months behind?

Yes. Rebuilding neglected records and bringing overdue filings back up to date is a regular part of what we do. We work back through bank statements, invoices and receipts, reconcile the period and tell you what the position actually is. Then we agree the dates for getting the outstanding returns filed.

Do you take on one-off bookkeeping or tax returns?

We do not offer one-off self assessment or capital gains work. Our bookkeeping services are set up for owner-managed businesses, sole traders and partnerships who want the books looked after through the year on a monthly fee. Most clients across Cardiff, Newport, Swansea and Bristol take bookkeeping, VAT and payroll together.
